Employee Testimonials
Sally Young, Software Engineer - "I joined MidlandHR back in 1997 - something which really speaks for itself. Fourteen years on, I am now a senior developer that has worked using a variety of programming languages across two different products, one of which was originally client-based and is now web-enabled. There is the potential for a lot of variety in my job and tasks can differ from day to day including deputising for my team leader when he is unavailable. My job also involves a certain amount of customer contact through customer panels. Experience has shown me that MidlandHR will give you all the opportunities you need for career development if you have the desire and motivation to succeed"
Laurel Mitchell, Account Manager - "MidlandHR has enabled me to progressively develop my skills and experience since joining the company in January 2004. This is something that hadn’t been easily available at previous organisations I had worked for. My last few jobs had been very repetitive so to come to a company where no day is the same, the time goes by very quickly and the people are friendly also makes it very enjoyable. What makes working for MidlandHR stand out is the opportunity to work with a diverse customer base across the UK in all kinds of sectors and learn a vast amount, not just about software but how other industries function"
Jenni Lawrence, Pre-Sales Consultant HR & Payroll - "My first experience of MidlandHR was as a customer – as a Learning & Development Manager I introduced the use of L&D for training administration and supported Project Management on a roll-out of global employee self service within my organisation. I also got involved in MidlandHR customer panels and was always impressed by the company’s proactive approach to development and progression.
I joined MidlandHR as a consultant in March 2011, specialising in Performance Management and L&D. L&D people are often some of the last to receive training investment from their organisation, but this was not the case with MidlandHR! I received an excellent level of training and was encouraged to develop within my role, working as a true consultant to shape improvements to customer process. As a consultant, I often demonstrated MidlandHR’s iTrent software as a way to engage stakeholders for my customers. When I saw an advertisement for the Pre-Sales Consultant role which I now have, I decided I would like to use past sales experience and my knowledge of MidlandHR’s product to ‘give it a go’ – with MidlandHR, internal movement for development within the organisation is positively encouraged.
Since becoming a Pre-Sales Consultant, I have been encouraged to shape the way that we demonstrate software within my specialist areas, and now work with both the Sales and Account Management teams to support them through the sales process. I am also given the opportunity to support customers through the proof of concept and transition to the implementation and service team within MidlandHR. I feel confident that MidlandHR is a strong company and see myself continuing to take advantage of the many opportunities that working here offers for a long time yet. MidlandHR are a very encouraging employer and I honestly feel that what you contribute to the organisation, you certainly get back in return"
Emma Long, Payroll Manager - "I started working for MidlandHR in 2005 as a payroll administrator. In my previous roles, I had not thought about my working life as a career - a job was simply something to pay the bills. However, within the first few months of working at MidlandHR, I began to realise that there were opportunities available. My manager worked with me to establish a career route within payroll. I have progressed through the CIPP Fast Track Diploma and CIPP Advanced Diploma, and am now studying towards completing the CIPP MSc Qualification. Throughout my career here, my development has been recognised and I have progressed within the organisation from payroll administrator, to senior payroll administrator, then to payroll team leader before being promoted to payroll manager in 2008 – the dream role!
I can honestly say that I would not have been able to achieve all of this without the continued guidance, support, encouragement and opportunities offered to me by my manager, peers and the organisation. The payroll department is well settled and productive – a very happy working environment, and my role as payroll manager of the department offers new learning and development opportunities on an almost daily basis. I look forward to my MidlandHR journey continuing and would certainly encourage hard working and ambitious individuals to set their sights on a rewarding MidlandHR career"
Asimina Stamatiou, Product Manager - "I have only recently joined MidlandHR and already feel a valued member of the team and the company overall. Having worked in a global manufacturing company before, I was looking for a job that would challenge me on a daily basis. I was looking for autonomy to make decisions, a safe environment to offer suggestions and new ideas, opportunities to work as a member of cross-functional teams, and also to work together with customers. I joined MidlandHR with the belief that it would offer all of these, and it has truly met my expectations.
Personal development is very important to me. MidlandHR really supports and invests in its people - I have already being given opportunities to improve my skills and knowledge by attending seminars, training courses, reading books and journal articles, and by shadowing colleagues who are more than willing to share their knowledge and expertise with me. I have also started a CIPD qualification to enhance my HR knowledge, and my manager is already supporting me with my studies"
Amanda Challoner, Programme Manager - Strategic Projects - "Since joining MidlandHR 71/2 years ago, I have had the opportunity to work with some really talented individuals. Teamworking and sharing knowledge is a key attribute in any organisation especially if you want to retain the best people and reap the rewards financially. Having come from a predominantly HR background, I’ve learned a lot about payroll, technology and integrated systems. Working on strategic projects brings its risks but I’ve found that with a strong team alongside you, most challenges can be overcome…and that is both empowering and rewarding to client and supplier"
Jamie Colville, Business Alliance Manager - "I have worked at MidlandHR since 1990 and have seen it grow steadily, always embracing the latest appropriate technologies and still thinking well into the future with an ambitious and achievable development plan. An approachable environment has evolved across the whole organisation with easy access to all employees and directors, essential for a company striving for the very best. It certainly makes my job a lot easier!
I have performed many roles in my time here including product demonstrations, sales, product development, implementation and management. The Company supported me fully in each of these steps as new skills were required. I feel the team we have assembled and to which I belong has never had a higher morale and this is supported by extensive experience across the whole function and a ‘can do’ attitude. We enjoy our days in spite of natural work pressures yet no-one skirts responsibilities and indeed often goes the extra mile; a team working together. So, a great team, excellent surroundings, great career opportunities. That’s why I am still here!"
Jeff Tullin, Senior Associate - "One thing you hear a lot about when people change jobs, is that they are 'seeking a new challenge'. As a consultant, you meet new people and new challenges every day of the week, and you need to be able to hit the ground running. A Consultancy role at MidlandHR’ suits the fast thinker and calm authority. People depend upon your knowledge and your experience, your listening and creative skills, and at the end of the day, there's little as satisfying as turning a difficult problem into a working solution"
Nicola Hallam, Pre Sales Consultant - "Having been an unfortunate victim of the recession in late 2008, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to start work at MidlandHR as a temporary worker. Being PA to the Managing Director was a daunting but exciting prospect and I was thrilled to become a permanent member of the team only a few months later. Since then, MHR has captured my passion for career progression and I soon had the chance to take on more challenges and responsibility in and around the business such as HR administration, H&S Advisory and First Aider. I became a real advocate for MHR and the iTrent product and wanted to share my passion with prospects and customers alike, so I moved into the Sales Team as a Pre-Sales Consultant.
I’m still learning every day and come across new and exciting challenges regularly. Travelling, meeting new people and championing MHR and iTrent is now my daily ‘pick me up’ and I couldn’t have done it without the help and guidance provided by my colleagues and peers at MHR"
Ian Daykin, HR Consultant - "I had worked for my previous employer for a number years and wanted to make sure that the next job I took had the right balance of challenge and job satisfaction. I looked closely at the skill sets I had picked up over the years and the aspects I had enjoyed the most, and soon realised that my knowledge of HR processes and desire to maximise the systems they operate on was where I excelled, and also where I could give people the benefit of my experience. When an opportunity came up at MidlandHR, I jumped at the chance of joining them and soon realised I had made the right the decision. They want to deliver a quality cutting edge solution that meets businesses HR requirements and are constantly seeking ideas to improve their product. What’s more, they are prepared to develop their employees, so that their knowledge of the product can be passed onto their customers, which creates a win-win situation for everybody. So what more can I say, other than why not apply and join me and the rest of the team here? You won’t look back"
Dave Hill, Service Desk Analyst - "In my first week I was thinking this is the best job I have ever had and I am still saying the same thing 25 years later. I don’t like jobs that are boring or repetitive and fortunately each day I find myself doing something that I never planned. For most of my 25 years, I have chosen to do the same role within the customer service department of the company at levels from service desk analyst to service desk manager, but I have also had the opportunity to spend time working in nearly every other department in the company, I have worked in planning, software development, consultancy services and training. As well as working within the offices in Ruddington, I have travelled extensively throughout the UK to various customer sites performing various tasks such as installing systems, planning implementations, training customers, selling systems and I have also attended user groups to do presentations and also front question and answer sessions. The people I work with are another reason I have spent so long with this company, they are a great group of people to work with and I count many of them as close personal friends. I can safely say that I would recommend employment with this company to everyone"
Milena Iacovidu, Junior Software Engineer - "MidlandHR has given me the opportunity to apply what I've learnt at University to real business problems. I work as a Software Engineer in the Research department and I have the opportunity to explore latest technologies as well as generate and propose new ideas. Every day of my work is different and this is what I like the most about my job. I am surrounded by very talented, friendly and motivated people that constantly make me feel privileged to be a part of this organisation. Regardless of the challenges or difficulties I have, I know that I can access my colleagues, who are always willing to share their knowledge and help me achieve my goals"
Tom Scott, Technical Support Consultant - "Having worked in several organisations from the very small to the extremely large within my career, I feel that I can relate to the different cultures, both the good and the bad, within organisations. Working for MidlandHR was definitely a step in the right direction, with a healthy and constructive culture, where everyone is here to achieve a common goal. The company are supportive of their staff and offer training at frequent intervals, especially when you are required to carry out, or understand new activities or technology. I was welcomed with open arms at MidlandHR, and was quickly made to feel at home, allowing me to become productive more quickly than the cultures of other businesses. MidlandHR actively recruit, reward and promote talent from within, which in my experience is something that is sadly forgotten in many modern organisations"
