London, UK 05 July 2007 –
MidlandHR, the integrated HR and payroll solutions provider has been authorised to join the Government Secure Extranet (GSE), allowing public sector buyers to securely use its HR and payroll services through the Government Secure Intranet (GSi) – a Managed Service provided by OGCbuying.solutions. This will enable MidlandHR to host its services on the GSE, which is accessible to governmental departments and agencies connected to the GSi. The new connection will come into force from the 30th June.
Recommended and sponsored by the Law Offices Department, a GSi member, MidlandHR met the CESG’s (the UK National Technical Authority for Information Assurance) rigorous security criteria, which noted the products it used for security, integrity, confidentiality and availability in order to become authorised for connection to the GSE community under the GSi framework. MidlandHR also has an authorised disaster recovery site available - which means that if the primary site should fail, the recovery site is accredited to run their secure environments during a major outage.
The GSE opens up the advantages of economies of scale between public and private sector organisations, as well as paving the way for shared services across the public sector. The GSi is a key part of the government’s networking strategy and already links public sector organisations in the UK allowing government departments both choice and financial savings in their procurement activities.
Lawrence Knowles, managing director of MidlandHR comments “We are delighted to have been successful in gaining authorisation for a GSE connection, acknowledging the high security level at which we operate. The ‘Transformational Government – Enabled by Technology’ paper (November 2005) recognised the importance of HR within government. Through our GSE accreditation we are giving government sectors the confidence to develop and transform this fundamental part of their organisations.”
